Benefit Auctions Continue to Grow
By: Kip Toner ~
For Kip Toner Benefit Auctions, this past weekend was yet another proof of the resiliency of benefit auctions in the current economic climate. One women’s organization that we worked with in Chicago this past Saturday more than doubled their income in both their live auction and in Fund-An-Item™. Yet another KTBA client organization saw a growth in revenue over the previous year’s total, raising $87K for cancer research and patient care. This is truly significant for an auction that began with a Craig’s List advertisement and raised $10K its first year. Working with Kip Toner Benefit Auctions for the first time this weekend, a foreign exchange student program increased its revenue over last year’s while using the Underwriting Support Method™. In WashingtonDC, Kip’s auctioneering once again produced significant revenue for a well known college preparatory school, boosting the live auction rate of return to 147% , an increase of 23 % over the previous year.
If your development team is questioning the effectiveness a benefit auction as a fundraiser in today’s economy, the KTBA team enthusiastically encourages you to continue the tradition of an annual auction. With the incorporation of a bit more strategy and planning, your auction can and will be a great success. For some fresh new ideas about how to compensate for the economic climate and bolster your auction revenue, consider attending the Kip Toner Benefit Auctions Creative Session on Monday, May 11, 2009 in Seattle.
