Have a safe, fun, and PRODUCTIVE Memorial Day Weekend
By: Kip Toner ~ 5/22/2009

The weather report for this weekend is looking picture perfect.  If you've made a list of things you would like to do for this weekend and it looks something like this….

1)      Relax

2)      Spend some time in the sun

3)      Hang out with family

4)      …. Make some progress on your favorite charities benefit auction

Then here's an easy way to complete everything on that list.    If your Memorial Day plans included traveling to a resort, eating out, or a special experience, be sure to ask every business you are a patron of over the weekend to make a donation to your benefit auction. Chances are, if your family enjoys the services of a specific resort, than another family at your benefit auction will also enjoy that experience

If you're planning on visiting family over the Memorial Day weekend be sure to let the family members that you're visiting know that you're working on a benefit auction and you would either love to have them attend the benefit auction or perhaps donate to the benefit auction.  Some of the best items come from sources that we’ve never thought to ask.

An example of this happened just last month when a benefit auction chair from a KTBA benefit auction was visiting their family in Alaska, when at a dinner they were updating their family and friends on the progress of the auction, one of the family friends who happened to also be a fishing guide on the Copper river, said he would be happy to donate a guided fishing trip to the benefit auction… Cha Ching!!! Now that’s a big ticket item.

Items are everywhere, don’t be afraid to ask! For more ideas on Benefit Auctions, please feel free to contact the KTBA Team at info@KipTonerBenefitAcution.   Have a safe Memorial Day Weekend and we’ll look forward to hearing your success stories next week.
